Majority: Majority vote in two rounds If no candidate obtains an absolute majority in a constituency in the first round, a simple majority runoff poll is held a week later. Vacancies between general elections are filled through by-elections or appointment, as the case may be. Voting is compulsory for men, failure to do so resulting in a fine of £E20. |
